| view of my street, day 2 of the flood, couldn't move home till day 4 when power returned. |

| gardens covered in mud and mulch washed away. |
There was such a torrent running through the yard that one of the raised beds ( 2 sleepers high by 1 wide) was completely lifted out of the ground!

While this is a sad time for my gardening loving soul, I am grateful with every ounce of me for how lucky we truly were to have not lost everything, as some of my friends have, and I am very grateful to finally have hot water today after a week without !
On a bright note on the day that we were allowed to return to our house after the water had subsided, while assessing the damage, I noticed that this spider Lilly had flowered for the first time! It made me smile when there had been nothing but tears.
I promise you this is not the end of gardening life in me but a bump in the road and hopefully I will feel as rejuvenated as my garden will in a couple months time enjoying it's renewed prosperity.

It's even more frustrating when insurance companies won't cover landscaping or gardens even when it is what nourishes your family!!
Oh what a pain about insurance. The other 'up side' of this is you can relocate your gardens now if you wish to. You have the opportunity to start again in a way. We know you will get there and maybe I'll actually learn something this time.
